Pro hac vice coordination
The court’s Rule 4(b) generally calls for a motion filed and served by admitted co-counsel, with a consenting district-bar designee authorized to use CM/ECF. We review the current requirements with the applicant.

Coordinate filing review, service, conferral, proposed orders, and judge-specific procedures with lead counsel. A practical review schedule leaves time to address issues before submission.
Hearings and expedited matters
Discuss appearances, hearing preparation, and urgent motion logistics at the outset. Availability and responsibilities are confirmed against the actual deadline and court requirements.
Patent litigation
Coordinate technical discovery, claim-construction proceedings, expert issues, and trial preparation within the agreed local counsel role.
Trademark litigation
Support Lanham Act, trade dress, unfair competition, and counterfeiting matters, including requests for urgent injunctive relief.

Can a pro hac vice attorney file directly in CM/ECF?
The Southern District’s guidance states that pro hac vice permission does not itself authorize CM/ECF filing. Designated admitted counsel handles the required electronic filings under the applicable rules.
Does the local counsel engagement include every hearing?
Appearance responsibilities depend on the rules, the assigned judge, court orders, and the agreed scope. We address those responsibilities with lead counsel rather than assume a filing-only role.
Can you assist with a near-term deadline?
Send the court, parties, case number, and deadline for a conflicts and availability check. We confirm whether the assignment can be accepted before committing to a filing or appearance.
